What is the difference between a postpartum doula and a nanny?
A postpartum doula supports recovery, rest, newborn care, and family adjustment. A nanny provides consistent ongoing childcare. The right transition depends on your needs, not a fixed age. A nanny with appropriate infant experience may start during infancy.
Do I need to know which service I want?
No. Choose “I’m not sure” in the inquiry. We can talk through birth support, daytime or overnight postpartum care, and longer-term childcare together.
Can I use Carrot, Maven, or employer benefits?
Possibly. Eligibility depends on your plan, the specific professional, and the service. Confirm coverage, documentation, provider requirements, and reimbursement rules with your administrator before booking. We do not guarantee coverage or reimbursement.
Who makes the final decision about a match?
You do. A consultation and introduction help you assess fit. Review experience, references, screening details, duties, rates, and written terms before choosing your professional.
Where do you offer care?
Our focus is San Diego and Dallas–Fort Worth. Share your actual community and schedule so travel and professional availability can be checked. We do not promise coverage throughout California or Texas.
When should I start looking?
Many families begin birth-doula interviews in the second trimester and plan postpartum care before birth. For a nanny search, allowing around 4–8 weeks can leave room for interviews and a transition. These are planning guidelines; availability varies and you can inquire later.
Is doula care medical care?
No. Doulas provide non-clinical emotional, physical, and informational support. They complement your licensed medical team and do not diagnose, prescribe, deliver babies, or make medical decisions.
Can I ask for overnight postpartum support?
Yes. Select postpartum care and then overnight or both in your inquiry. Discuss shift length, feeding arrangements, awake-care expectations, and duties before booking. Overnight care does not guarantee uninterrupted sleep.
Are nanny wages included in the placement fee?
No. Agency search or placement fees are separate from the nanny’s compensation. Families arrange wages and applicable household-employment and payroll responsibilities separately. Review the full written terms before committing.
Does an inquiry commit me to a service?
No. An inquiry is free. Availability, pricing, screening, agreements, and any payment terms must be confirmed before a placement or service begins.
Will the same person provide birth, postpartum, and nanny care?
Not necessarily. Each role requires its own experience and scope. Continuity means a connected place to find support; the professional may change as your needs do.
What happens after I submit?
Your request is saved, and Ariellyn’s HoneyBook booking page opens so you can choose a consultation time. You will also see a scheduling link on the confirmation screen. Booking a consultation does not book care.
